The Range
Our Indoor Gun Range

We have 10 indoor shooting lanes here at East Orange Shooting Sports (EOSS). They are available for rent during our normal business hours unless there is a pre-scheduled event going on. Check our Weekly Schedule or call ahead for a list of such events. The lanes cannot be reserved - they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost to use a lane is $8.95 per visit. You can stay and shoot as long as you like!

You may bring your own guns or rent ours. We have 15 different rentals to choose from. They range from a .22 rifle to a .44 magnum revolver, and everything in between. (add list here) The price to rent is $8.95 per visit. For that one price, you can use as many rental guns as you like, but you can only check out one at a time. Note: When using our rental guns, we require that you purchase factory ammo from our store. We have plenty in every caliber. Use can use your own ammo in your own guns.

10 indoor lanes

Each lane is 25 yards and they employ electric target carriers. You can bring your own targets or buy some from us in several styles and sizes. We can accomodate handguns up to .44 Magnum and rifles up to .22 Magnum. Our mission is to provide a clean environment that's fun and friendly, but safety is our top priority. Make sure you read and understand the Range Rules below. These are posted on the wall in our shop as well. They are for your safety and before shooting, you will be required to present I.D. and sign a release stating that you know and understand the rules.

General Policies

1. Patrons must be 21 years of age to use range or must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is at least 21 years of age. No one under the age of 12 will be allowed to use the range.

2. Patrons must have a valid driver’s license and/or official photo I.D.

3. Any staff member of the EOSS staff may refuse service to a person or group for any reason, including failure to follow EOSS rules and policies.

4. No alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises.

5. All shooters must be completely familiar and comfortable with the firearm they intend to use. If you're not sure - ask our staff BEFORE using the range. It's our job - we're HAPPY to help.

Range Rules

1. Any EOSS staff member will be obeyed at the range when they give range commands.

2. If you have a problem with your firearm, put it in a safe condition if possible and leave it on the bench in the stall pointing down range. Then, alert a staff member.

3. Stay behind stall bench at all times.

4. Do not handle any firearms or stand at the firing line where firearms are present if you see anyone down range for any reason.

5. Always keep muzzle pointed at the backstop or bullet trap. Never allow the muzzle to aim high, low, or to the sides which could result in dangerous ricochets and/or range damage.

Authorized targets only
6. Keep action open and firearm unloaded until the shooter is in position on the firing line behind the stall bench.

7. Only one firearm may be used at a time. Store one firearm and its ammunition before using another. Do NOT keep two different calibers of ammunition at hand on the firing line.

8. No food or drink in the range area. Clean up after yourself and leave the shooting stall in a clean, safe condition for the next shooter.

9. All shooters and people in the firing bay MUST WEAR EAR AND EYE PROTECTION.

10. Shoot only authorized targets.

Firearm Handling – Safety Rules

1. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.

2. Keep your finger OFF the trigger and outside the trigger guard until pointing safely downrange and ready to fire.

4. Know your weapon. Be sure the firearm and ammunition are compatible.

5. Do not assume anything. Think safety at all times. Handle all firearms as though they are loaded.

6. No firearms will be allowed to enter or leave the EOSS premises without the firearms unloaded and the action open.

7. Know where others are at all times. If you are the adult accompanying a child, they must remain with you so you can monitor the child while they are shooting.

8. Only authorized and legally-owned firearms may be used at the range.

9. Only handguns up to .44 mag. and rifles up to .22 mag. can shoot on the range.

10. Only commercially available ammunition allowed on the range.

Note
: We strongly suggest that all new shooters take a basic firearms course. The NRA offers such a course locally and we offer firearms training at the range from basic all the way up through competition shooting. Just ask, and we can arrange something for you.

Here is a copy (.pdf format) of the East Orange Shooting Sports release that is required for any shooter. You can read it over in advance and/or print it, fill it out and bring it with you when you visit. This will save you time and get you on the range faster. Note: Because the information on the form is date-sensitive, you will have to have a completed form signed and dated that day, each time you visit.
